Overall, this is a deeply satisfying novel with excellent characters and rich storytelling.
From the first page to the last, this book is a tender, honest, period piece that shows the real meaning of “chosen family” and the strength behind such creations.
Shahrazad’s Gift is a collection of candid portrayals and gritty situations as well as an exploration of what it is to be “other.”

poor Cleo!
Poor sweetie. I love that pose, that sadness-by-the-window that only a dog can pull off. I have so many similar pictures of Frasier when he pines by the front door for everyone to come home. I can’t resist picking up the camera when I see him sitting like that.
LOVE the new look, btw. It has such a newsy, real feel to it. My journalist’s soul feels very at home here.
