Meet Joe. He’s a young adult (approx 2-3 years old) male Chihuahua, and while there’s no way to be certain without a DNA analysis, he may be pure. He’s a shy guy, and needs a patient family (preferably without large dogs or young children) to love him. He spent a month in the shelter in [...]

Fuzzy and I celebrated our 14th anniversary quietly, with grilled chicken, asparagus, and couscous. We leave for Mexico in two weeks and have acquired a Wii (and Wii fit) and a PS3 in the last month, so presents seemed absurdly redundant. When we decided dessert was in order, Fuzzy said he’d run to the store. [...]

If I were writing as a foreign correspondent, today’s entry would be all about how I took to my bed with a migraine and a stomach bug, and had dashing room service providers from exotic countries waiting on me while I asked them where they were from. “I’m working in the hotel while studying medicine [...]

“Psalm” written by Wislawa Szymborska and translated into English by Stanislaw Baranczak and Clare Cavanagh: Oh, the leaky boundaries of man-made states! How many clouds float past them with impunity; how much desert sand shifts from one land to another; how many mountain pebbles tumble onto foreign soil in provocative hops! Need I mention every [...]

My friend Rana, who is always on the lookout for supplementary income streams and very good at finding cool stuff on the net has been writing articles for Helium.com, for roughly a month now (I think), and a couple weeks back she suggested that I, too might want to try them out. Somewhat ironically, I [...]
