Grooving

I’m grooving today, just on the energy of the world, and the life around me. It’s a good thing.

I spent the day in a bit of a fog, after a sleepless night spent listening to Zorro cough. Somewhat ironically, he coughs when his lungs are not congested, mainly at night. Our vet has recommended dosing him with half a Benadryl, but generally results in a spit out pill, and frustration all around. I have, it seems, the only two dogs on earth who are not knocked out by antihistamines.

Of course, the plus side of this is that his lungs aren’t congested, the other medicine is helping, and during the day he’s his sweet old self, if a bit less frisky than he was a month ago.

I finally fell asleep when he did, at around eight this morning, only to wake at 10:30 to find him staring at me with big moon-lit eyes, telepathically rousing me from REM sleep, the way pets can. I’d been in the middle of a string of really bizarre dreams that included aspersions cast upon my husband’s sexual prowess, my mother wanting to paint the couch with invisible ink, in much the same way that one uses a clear wax crayon on an undyed Easter egg before dipping it into pigment, and being told that Alan Rickman is desperate for my chili recipe. Oh, and then there was the vampire who was about to bite my neck before I killed him, only to have his disintegration into ash trigger game show lights and bells and the announcement that I’d won the grand prize. (Sadly, said prize was never specified.) With all that mental activity is it any wonder it took me until 2:30 to get myself and Fuzzy out of the house?

We went to Cracker Barrel for a late brunch, because a conversation with Klae had me craving poached eggs. In my world, poaching is the best thing that can happen to an egg, but said egg must be poached “easy” so that there’s a liquid yolk in which to dip buttered toast. Deb met us there, and we chatted for a while, before heading to the grocery store for the Great Thanksgiving Shopping Excursion. I’d budgeted a certain amount, and only went over by $10.49, which isn’t bad at all, and even got to have a peppermint mocha before coming home.

We spent the evening cleaning, in preparation for the arrival of good friends on Tuesday, had a late dinner while watching the season finale of True Blood, and now Fuzzy is upstairs working on moving books and boxes, I’ve written my articles for tomorrow, and I’m about to go to bed.

We never made it to church today (I would have been too tired to get anything from it anyway), but are looking forward to next weekend.

Meanwhile, I’m in a happy groove of writing, reading, cooking, planning, and spending some quiet time alone with my thoughts.

Man o man – your dreams sound like some of mine!

Did you hear Alan Rickman will be the Caterpillar in Tim Burton’s new Alice in Wonderland movie? Depp & Rickman reunited, woohoo!

Glad Zorro’s doing ok, I’ve been thinking of him.

The season finale of True Blood made me sad, cause if they follow the book, no more of my favorite character, boohoo.
